Breast Cancer Survivor Group (SANAD)

SANAD is comprised of a group of trained breast cancer survivors that help female breast cancer patients reclaim a positive body image and a healthy lifestyle.
This is done by providing practical assistance, support, encouragement and education on a one-on-one basis during diagnosis, treatment and recovery from breast cancer.

Daily, weekly and monthly group and individual meetings are organized for patients and their families.

SANAD members educate and share with patients their own personal experiences with cancer. Here, SANAD members wipe the tears of KHCC breast cancer patients who experience the same pain and emotions that their SANAD colleagues experienced in their own battles with cancer. This instills a deep-rooted trust, a bond necessary for a woman to overcome her fears.

Hope and encouragement are communicated through personal visits to outpatient clinics, chemotherapy units, patient rooms, over the phone and even at home. The SANAD group also educates women on the early detection of breast cancer.

In 2009, the SANAD group was nominated for Her Majesty Queen Rania's Award for Community Champions (Ahel Al Himmeh). SANAD Group was one of only 29 nominees for this prestigious award, out of a total of 40,000 applicants.
