Clinical Research and Cancer Registry Office

 
 

In 2006, King Hussein Cancer Center established the Clinical Research and Cancer Registry Office (CRRO), which is the first of its kind in Jordan, to fulfill its mission in promoting growth of research activities at KHCC.

The role of CRRO is to build and maintain a research body at KHCC which initiates research activities through supporting and ensuring progress and research projects according to international research standards.

The CRRO currently consists of three units:

  • Research Support Services Unit
  • Research Compliance Unit
  • Cancer Registry Office

 

Research Support Services Unit — RSSU

The RSSU works to promote best research practices which will in the end be the path of excellence in clinical care provided to patients.

The unit consists of qualified clinical research coordinators and statistical   programmer whom have contributed greatly to its success and progress. It provides support to both sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated clinical research projects. It works to facilitate better management of research and assures the quality of data issued.

The RSSU offers a wide range of services to researchers:

  • Clinical Trials Cost-assessment and Contracting.
  • Scientific opinion
  • Help in KHCC IRB Submission.
  • Design and optimization of data collection sheets or case report forms (CRF).
  • Data Cleaning and Verification
  • Creation of databases and data-analysis.
  • Help in writing results of abstracts and articles that are considered for publication.

 

Research Compliance Unit (RCU)

Research Compliance Unit (RCU) is entitled to establish procedures to thoroughly, timely, and objectively evaluate the process and conduct of research studies at KHCC to protect the health and safety of human participants in research and promote the integrity of research activities at KHCC. RCU main target is to implement the Quality Control, Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement activities. The quality improvement model is based on the scientific feedback loops: Hypothesis, measurement, adjustment, and re measurement.”

 

Cancer Registry Office

In 2007 KHCC created the first hospital-based cancer registry in Jordan. This cancer registry was built following international standard of cancer registration. It collects information on KHCC patients, ranging from demographics, cancer clinical data, hospital information, and some follow up data. This registry issued its first annual report in 2009.

This registry is run by three cancer registrars, two of them are certified tumor registrar CTR.

For request of registry data, applicant should fill this form, providing the data is subject to the Director General approval.
