The Symposium agenda was prepared to include rich data on gastrointestinal malignancies with the aim of improving the early detection, diagnosis and treatment for patients in Jordan and the region.  Leading oncologists, radiologists, Gastroenterologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons from USA, Europe, and Middle East countries will share with you the recent advances and their up-to-date knowledge and expertise.

Overview

The "KHCC 15th International Symposium: Gastrointestinal malignancies " will take place in AmmanJordan; March 26th to 28th, 2009.  This Symposium has been designed to provide comprehensive updates on the biology, staging and management of Gastrointestinal Malignancies (Esophagus, Stomach, Colon, Rectum, Anal canal, Liver, Pancreato-Biliary Tract, and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors. Changes in treatment paradigms in chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery occurring in the past year will be discussed. Controversial issues in the management of gastrointestinal malignancies will be debated. The most promising agents being investigated in gastrointestinal malignancies will be presented, including their mechanisms of action and preclinical and clinical data.

The format of this scientific meeting will include didactic lectures from renowned experts, interactive case management discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and ample time for participant interaction with the international faculty. Cutting-edge data from ongoing clinical research will be integrated into all of the didactic lectures .The symposium will also focus on emerging targeted agents that might change the future management of gastrointestinal malignancies.

Furthermore, the conference will include a full day designated to topics related to nursing staff that focus on nursing care associated with gastrointestinal malignancies.  This full day program that will be held at KHCC; is designed for oncology nurses with an interest in understanding the latest advances for gastrointestinal malignancies and in learning strategies to manage the side effects associated with these tumors.  This day is designed to update nurses’ knowledge and skills regarding the new techniques and interventions related to patients with gastrointestinal malignancies.  The main topics will cover the interventions with stoma care, malignant wound management, and symptoms management associated with gastrointestinal malignancies.  These topics will be presented by local and international experts in this area.
