Who are we?

Life Support Training Center (LSTC) is part of King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) and the first center in Jordan affiliated with American Heart Association (AHA).We took on the task of conducting high quality AHA courses not only to health care professionals but to many other segments of the community. 

What are the courses offered by LSTC?

I. Public Training Program

The aim of public training program is to educate Jordanian population about various medical related subjects from prevention of diseases to first aid responses.

The public training program is very active in community related activities. It ranges from shopping malls to teaching school children how to call for an ambulance in an emergency situation. 

AHA training courses offered to the public include:

1. Heartsaver CPR &AED:

Designed for employees in the workplace, nursery employees, babysitters, firefighters, policemen, airline personnel, security guards, Health club coaches, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, and any other personnel who may have a need to respond to an emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

2. CPR for Family & Friends:

Designed for school children, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death and other people who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones

3. Heartsaver First Aid:

Designed for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

4. Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid:

Designed for those involved in child care that have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, such as child

care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations, and coaches for children’s sports organizations. 

II. AHA course for healthcare professionals:

1. Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid:

BLS is designed to provide the participant with knowledge and skills to recognize several life threatening emergencies, providing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and relieve Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) in a safe, effective and timely manner.

• Intended Audience:

- Healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician’s assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants
- Police officers
- General civil defense
- Other allied health personnel

2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. Through the ACLS course, providers will be able to enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

• Intended Audience:

The course target medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists,

and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

The goal of the PALS course is to help the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.

• Intended Audience:

For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies
