In Jordan, cancer is the second most frequent cause of death after heart disease. A total of 4333 new cancer cases were registered by JNCR in 2004, of these, 3591 cases (82.9%) were among Jordanians, and 742 cases (17.1 %) were non-Jordanians. Out of a total of 3591 new cases of cancer recorded amongst Jordanians in the 2004, of these, 1763 cases (49.1 %) were males and 1828 cases (50.9%) were females.

The rank order of the five most common cancers affecting Jordanians are: Breast, Colo-Rectal, Leukemia, Lung, and prostate. The crude incidence rate of all cancer among Jordanians was 67.1 per 100,000 population (63.9 for males and 70.5 for females).

In incidences of pediatric cancer (0 to 14 years), 175 new cancer cases were diagnosed namely Leukemia, Lymphoma, Brain and CNS. Leukemia's were most common cancers among children where 57 cases were reported, accounting for 32.6% of all childhood cancers.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer for females, accounting for 35.3% of all female cancer. Colo-rectal cancer is the leading male cancer incidence, accounting for 12.4% of all male cancers.
