Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
The department of Pathology and Laboratory medicine includes all medical laboratories: histopathology, cytology, cytogenetics, microbiology, hematopoietic progenitor cell processing, clinical chemistry, immunology, molecular diagnostics, HLA typing, hematology, blood bank and the outpatient phlebotomy center.
The department provides state-of-the-art pathology services, including the use of supportive specialized techniques such as immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, FISH, and molecular cytogentics.
The department received international accreditation from the College of American Pathologists ( CAP). This honor confirms that KHCC laboratories meet and exceed regulatory requirements, yielding the highest accuracy levels of laboratory results.
Staff
There are around 60 technicians and technologists working in the department around the clock. In addition, there are 2 fellows, two part-time pathologists, 4 full-time pathologists and 3 residents in the department.
