The first visit may be to one of these clinics:

1.       early detetion clinic:  If you feel unusual symptoms or would simply like to be checked for cancer, a visit to the early detection clinic is the first step.  Schedule an appointment to be screened by medical professionals who perform tests to rule out or diagnose the possibility of cancer.  View links on the side menu of this page for the clinic’s contact info.

2.       specialty clinics:  If you are diagnosed with cancer elsewhere and  are interested in getting treatment at KHCC , please present yourself  to the Medical Oncology/ Hematology Screening Clinic in the outpatient building. Please make sure you have the following documents upon arrival:

A.       A medical report from the physician who treated and diagnosed you with cancer.

B.       All X-rays and other imaging tests that were recently administered.  This may help our team to order fewer images and save you from unnecessary repeated exposure if you’ve already had tests performed.

C.  Pathology reports and materials.  When cancer is suspected, the first procedure is usually to take a piece of tissue for diagnosis.  This is called a “biopsy”.  Once the biopsy is received at the lab, it is fixed in paraffin and can then be processed and stored for long periods of time.  It is customary for labs to keep these materials for many years.  When you come to KHCC, it is important that you bring this “paraffin block” along with the report.  This will help us to confirm the diagnosis without repeating the diagnostic procedure.

D.       ID papers that may help you when you open a medical file.

E.       A small fee may be required for the first visit and for the opening of a chart (25 JDs)

It has to be understood that KHCC works with limited space and that all attempts are made to maximize the use of our resources.  Sometimes, we feel that some patients may be treated more efficiently in centers throughout the Kingdom, if the needed resources are available elsewhere. We don’t like to turn away any patients, although, sometimes that may be necessary to maximize the benefit of our resources.  Still, it is your right to be checked at KHCC and evaluated.  Many times the advice from a specialist is very precious and it may be all that we can offer.  The vast majority of cases are, however seen, evaluated and accepted for treatment in the center.
