Zakat Fund
ABOUT THE FUND
The Zakat Fund is an integral part of the Goodwill Fund, which dedicates all of its resources to supporting underprivileged patients. Donations to the Zakat Fund are placed in a separate account and spent, within the year, to pay treatment costs of Muslim underprivileged patients at the King Hussein Cancer Center.
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, obligatory for all Muslims, and refers to spending a fixed portion of one’s wealth on poor and needy Muslims. The purpose of Zakat is to enhance social and economic integration and solidarity in Muslim societies.
Official Fatwa
The Foundation received an official Fatwa (an Islamic Legal Pronouncement) from the Jordanian Fatwa Council (Fatwa number 2/2006 dated 22 March 2006) qualifying the King Hussein Cancer Foundation as a recipient of Zakat.
The King Hussein Cancer Foundation calls upon all Muslims to direct their Zakat to benefit the Goodwill Fund through the Zakat Fund.
