KHCC adult intensive care unit:
The adult ICU at KHCC is the only ICU in Jordan that follows the closed model. Our ICU is a 12 bed medical/surgical unit that is run by a team that implements the high-intensity intensive care staffing model with physicians providing 24-hour coverage seven days a week.
Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted daily by a team that includes doctors, nurses, clinical pharmacists, respiratory therapists nutritionists. Intensivists and ICU hospitalists are qualified to deal with complex oncology critical care cases and admit around 800 cases per year. In addition our staff see a similar number of consults for patients located on various hospital floors and the Emergency Department.
The ICU is equipped with up-to-date technology that allows to perform all critical care procedures such hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, ultrasound guided central lines, bedside tracheostomies, bronchoscopies, chest tubes and others. There are more than 50 policies and procedures that regulate the operation of the ICU and were generated by a specialized standing hospital Critical Care Committee. Research is part of our ICU operation and our outcome results have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
A comfortable waiting area for the family is available in addition to a special family counseling room.
